What is Acupuncture?

It is an ancient healing modality that was developed by the Chinese thousands of years ago. Acupuncture is just one aspect of a larger medical system called Traditional Chinese Medicine. Unlike other forms of medical practice, Traditional Chinese Medicine practices began organically over thousands of years with contributions from renowned physicians, philosophers, and holy men.  The mechanisms behind the actual treatment of acupuncture are extensive as they are based on a Meridian System containing twelve different channels.

These channels are directly related to what we label in modern medicine as, Musculoskeletal Pathways, Nerve/Dermatome Pathways, the Endocrine System and the Psycho Emotional/Nervous System. Single use disposable filiform needles of various lengths and gauges are administered strategically throughout the body. According to the clients needs, the needles may be retained for 20 to 40 minutes on average. The frequency of visits is determined by the practitioner based on the progressive results of the client’s condition.
